An Environment to Bloom

Founded in 2019 as a platform for violin lessons by Akshara Krishna, a freshman at Duke University, Blooming Melodies has become an admirable force dedicated to serving its community through various impactful initiatives. With a vibrant chapter at Marvin Ridge High School and an expansive online presence, Blooming Melodies has been able to firmly dedicate itself to its primary mission: the enhancement of soft skill literacy. The dedicated leadership of Aashni Gaani, Ariel Baiye, Grace Fang, Ren Bhaskar, and Siri Donthi, as well as the talented volunteer team, has ensured the vitality of Blooming Melodies and its expansion in the future.

The current mission of Blooming Melodies can be most simply defined as being an organization that is dedicated to educating and empowering our community. This goal is reflected within the three pillars:

  • Learning through empowerment, collaboration, and development

  • Innovating through identification, creation, and launching

  • Supporting through provision, fostering, and connection

By focusing on these three goals, this organization can succinctly identify student and community needs, and create innovative ways to solve them, while supporting existing initiatives in Charlotte.

Blooming Melodies has explored its three pillars in several ways throughout Charlotte following its conception. This exploration has been done through the creation of informational sessions, workshops, and volunteer initiatives! Informational sessions have included information about International Baccalaureate vs Advanced Placement courses for high schoolers. Successful workshops have been Time Management Workshops at UNC Charlotte, Leadership Workshops at Marvin Ridge Middle School, and an application webinar for the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Finally, Blooming Melodies has supported Project Future India since 2019 through cultural preservation initiatives and nutrition projects.

Although Blooming Melodies hopes to expand upon the current initiatives offered, there is also a shift towards two new projects: a partnership with IDEA Lab (led by Siri Donthi), EcoLeaders, an Entrepreneurship program, and a STEAM camp! While the Entrepreneurship program and the partnership with IDEA Lab are focused on developing soft skills for elementary and middle schoolers, EcoLeaders and the STEAM camp will have a broadened impact on mitigating an ever-increasing issue: the international climate change crisis.
